Carvas College's Cardiovascular Technology Training program is an educational partner allied with the Healthcare Recovery Training System (HeaRTS). HeaRTS is a broad collaborative composed of 30 partners from industry, education, workforce development, and community-based organizations, and is coordinated by the Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center (SWLAHEC). This program is funded by a HUD Community Development Block Grant and is administered by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The mission of the employer-based HeaRTS program is to improve the healthcare workforce of South Louisiana by training and securing employment of more than 1,000 additional healthcare workers in high demand occupations in the hurricane-affected parishes. The HUD Community Block Grant has unfortunately mandated that all training must be completed by December 31, 2009. What this means for prospective students of Cardiovascular Technology is that only the class that began in September of 2007 and graduating in August of 2009 will be eligible for the block grant award. So unfortunately, no more students can be accepted under this program. However, we are not the only educational partner in this collaborative. For more information on what programs are still available, please visit the HeaRTS website. |
